Effective date: August 9, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Learn — VA Mesothelioma Benefits Guide for Veterans & Families (learn.lyricalguy.com) handles information when you read our plain-English guides to VA health care, treatment access, and family support for veterans and families affected by mesothelioma and asbestos exposure. We are an independent, non-government educational publisher. We sell nothing, we run no lead-generation forms, and we do not pass your details to law firms, treatment centers, or claims services.
The short version
You can read every article on this site without giving us your name, your service history, or your diagnosis. We have no accounts, no registration, no newsletter sign-up, and no contact form. The only way you deliberately send us information is by emailing support@learn.lyricalguy.com. Beyond that, our web server keeps standard logs, and our advertising partner (Google) sets cookies to display ads.
Information we collect
Information you send us by email
If you write to support@learn.lyricalguy.com — to report a factual error, request a correction, ask an accessibility question, or send a privacy or copyright request — we receive your email address, your message, and anything else you choose to include. Please do not send us medical records, claim files, Social Security numbers, VA file numbers, or other sensitive personal documents. We do not need them and we would rather not hold them. We keep support correspondence only as long as needed to resolve the matter and to maintain a record of corrections made to our articles.
Server logs
Like nearly all websites, our hosting server automatically records technical details of each request: IP address, browser user agent, referring page, the pages viewed, and the date and time. We use these logs for security, abuse prevention, caching, and understanding which guides readers find useful. Logs are retained for a limited period and then rotated out.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. This site uses strictly-necessary cookies from WordPress and our page-caching layer, plus cookies set by our advertising partner. If analytics is enabled, it may set its own cookies or use similar measurement technology. Our Cookie Policy describes each category and how to control it.
Advertising and Google’s use of cookies
This site is supported by Google AdSense display advertising. Please read the following carefully:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website and other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies — including the DoubleClick/Google ad cookie — enables Google and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings at https://www.google.com/settings/ads.
- Users may also opt out of a third-party vendor’s use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices.
- You can learn more in Google’s notice, “How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services,” at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Third-party ad networks and exchanges may also place cookies through Google’s ad serving. We do not control those cookies, we cannot read them, and we do not receive the personal data they may collect. A list of Google certified ad networks and their opt-out options is available through the Digital Advertising Alliance at aboutads.info. Opting out stops personalized ads; it does not stop ads altogether, and it does not disable this site.
Consent in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland
Where required by law, visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland are shown a consent message before non-essential cookies are set, and personalized advertising is served only in line with the choices recorded there. You can change or withdraw that consent at any time using the consent control on the site or your browser settings. Readers outside those regions can still opt out of personalized advertising using the links above.
Legal bases and your rights
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on our legitimate interest in operating and securing an educational website (server logs), on your consent (non-essential cookies and advertising personalization), and on your request (email correspondence). You may ask us to access, correct, or delete information we hold about you, to object to or restrict processing, or to receive a copy of it. Email support@learn.lyricalguy.com and we will respond within the period required by law. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
California residents. Under the CCPA/CPRA you have the right to know what personal information is collected and to request its deletion. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising in exchange for money, and we do not operate a lead-sales business of any kind. Requests go to the same support address, and we will not discriminate against you for making one.
Children’s privacy
This site is written for adult veterans, spouses, caregivers, and adult family members. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them, consistent with COPPA. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.
Security, analytics, and external links
The site is served over HTTPS, and we apply routine platform and plugin updates. No website can promise perfect security, but because we hold so little information, there is very little about you for us to lose. Any analytics we use is for aggregate readership measurement, not for profiling individuals.
Our guides link to outside resources such as VA.gov, benefits.va.gov, cancer.gov, cdc.gov, and ssa.gov. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and this policy does not cover them. See our Disclaimer for our independence statement.

If this policy changes we will post the revised version here and update the effective date above. Material changes will be noted on the page.
